Details

The Crofters Commission provides grants for agricultural improvements on crofts and other holdings. The aim is to support agricultural improvements to crofts by paying a percentage of the total cost incurred by the crofter. The percentage varies on the type of improvement undertaken. The eligible projects include the following:·

• Erection or improvement of agricultural buildings (includes internal items).·
• Provision or improvement of roofed or unroofed silos (excluding grain silos).·
• Provision or improvement of facilities for sheltering/feeding out-wintered livestock.·
• Works associated with agricultural buildings including yards, hardstandings, dungsteads and slurry stores.·
• Reseeding by ploughing or rotovating and the application of lime and fertiliser (it must be the intention that the land remains in grass for a minimum period of five years or if taken out of cropping rotation, for, normally 8 years).
• Reconditioning of grassland by surface treatment (it must be the intention that the land remains in grass for a minimum of 5 years and must not have attracted similar grant within the preceeding five years.
• Ditching, arterial drainage, under drainage and hill drainage.
• Provision or improvement of equipment for the handling and treatment of livestock.
• Provision of fences, hedges, dykes and gates.
• Provision of stock grids.·
• Planting of shelter belts.
• Provision or improvement of water supplies (Not including internal plumbing work which requires prior approval).
• Provision or improvement of mains electricty or gas connection or the supply and installation of an electricty generator (Not including internal wiring which requires prior approval).
• Provision of electrical equipment.
• Provision or improvement of road, bridges, culverts or boat slips.
